    DNS propagation checker

See what DNScale's authoritative nameservers serve right now, alongside what public recursive resolvers currently cache.

    Frequently asked

Why query DNScale's own nameservers in a propagation tool?

Recursive resolvers only return what their caches currently hold. Querying the authoritative nameservers directly tells you what the zone actually serves right now — the ground truth the caches are catching up to.

What do the different RCODE values mean?

NOERROR with answers means the resolver found the record. NOERROR with no answers means the record type does not exist for that name. NXDOMAIN means the name itself does not exist. REFUSED from an authoritative server means that server does not host the zone, which is what you expect if the domain is not on DNScale.

Why don't the TTL values match exactly?

TTLs decrement inside recursive-resolver caches. A TTL lower than the authoritative value means that resolver is mid-way through its cached lifetime for the record. Widely differing TTLs across resolvers is normal during propagation.

Is this tool free? Do I need an account?

Free, no account, no email wall. We rate-limit aggressively to prevent abuse and cache results for 60 seconds. If you need high-volume programmatic access, the DNScale API does that without the rate limits.
