How to Add Business Billing Details and a Tax ID
Learn how businesses and individuals can add or update their legal billing name, address, VAT or tax ID, and download DNScale invoices through Stripe.
Answer snapshot
Enter your legal billing name, billing address, and optional VAT or tax ID during Stripe Checkout. Existing paid and Pay As You Go customers can update the same information from Settings by selecting Manage Billing. Changes appear on future invoices; previously finalized invoices do not change.
What you'll learn
- Add the correct billing identity for either a business or an individual
- Update a company name, billing address, or VAT/tax ID through the Stripe billing portal
- Find and download invoices while understanding how billing-detail changes affect them
DNScale supports billing profiles for both businesses and individuals. Billing information is collected and stored securely by Stripe, DNScale's payment processor, and can be entered when you subscribe or updated later from the DNScale dashboard.
Which Details Should You Provide?
Use the legal identity that should appear on your invoices.
For a business or organisation
Provide:
- The registered company or organisation name
- The complete billing address, including country and postal code
- A VAT number or other supported tax ID, if your organisation has one
- The billing email address used by your accounts-payable contact
Enter the tax ID exactly as registered, including its country prefix where applicable. Stripe displays the identifier types supported for the selected country.
For an individual
Provide:
- Your legal name
- Your billing address, including country and postal code
- Your preferred billing email address
- A tax ID only if you have an applicable identifier and want it recorded for billing purposes
You do not need a company name or tax ID to purchase DNScale as an individual.
Add Billing Details During Checkout
When starting a paid subscription, changing to a paid plan through Checkout, or setting up Pay As You Go billing:
- Choose your DNScale plan and continue to Stripe Checkout.
- Enter your card and contact information.
- Enter the required billing address.
- Use the tax ID option if you need to add a VAT number or another supported identifier.
- Review the billing identity before confirming Checkout.
Stripe saves these details to the billing customer associated with your DNScale account. They are then available for future invoices and billing management.
If you are on Nano Free, you do not need a billing profile. You can provide your individual or business details when you upgrade or enable Pay As You Go.
Update Existing Billing Details
Paid and Pay As You Go customers can update their information without changing their DNScale account profile:
- Sign in to the DNScale dashboard.
- Open Settings.
- Find the Current Subscription section.
- Select Manage Billing.
- In the Stripe-hosted portal, select Update billing information.
- Update the legal name, email address, billing address, phone number, or tax ID as needed.
- Save the changes and return to DNScale.
Billing access is managed at the account level. If you cannot see Manage Billing, ask the person who administers your DNScale subscription or confirm that the account has a paid or Pay As You Go plan.
Download an Invoice
To retrieve an invoice:
- Open Settings and select Manage Billing.
- Find Invoice history in the Stripe portal.
- Select the invoice you need and download the available invoice or receipt.
The invoice uses the customer billing information saved when that invoice is finalized. Updating the profile changes future invoices but does not rewrite previously finalized invoices.
If an existing invoice contains incorrect customer details, contact support@email.dnscale.eu with the invoice number and the correction you need. Do not send card details by email.
VAT and Tax IDs
Your VAT or tax ID identifies you or your organisation as the customer. Add it to the same billing profile as the matching legal name and registered address so that the complete customer identity can appear on future invoices.
Common Issues
The tax ID is rejected
Check that you selected the correct country and identifier type, then enter the value in the official format. Make sure the country prefix is included when required and that the registered name and address are accurate.
The new details are missing from an old invoice
This is expected for a finalized invoice. Stripe preserves the billing details captured when it was issued. The new information will be used on future invoices.
Manage Billing is not available
The billing portal is available for paid subscriptions and Pay As You Go. Nano Free accounts provide billing details when they begin a paid Checkout flow. You may also need the account administrator to manage account-level billing.
